An access log is a comprehensive list of all the files which were accessed by the visitors of a certain website. Any file which was requested for whatever reason shall be listed, so if you have a single page with 3 embedded pictures, one video and one embedded text file, for example, the access log will contain a total of six entries - one for every of the six files which were accessed when the website visitor opened the webpage. A log normally offers the file name and path, the date, plus the visitor’s Operating System, browser and IP address. Oftentimes you could also find the referrer Internet sites that sent the visitors to your website. The info that an access log file provides is in human-readable plain text format. It can also be processed by special software on a personal computer and used to prepare reports on the efficiency of a website, aside from the web statistics your web hosting server may have created.

Access Log Manager in Hosting

If you get a hosting from us, you will be able to determine if access logs have to be created and for which domains or subdomains inside your account this must be done. You may enable this option from the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with all shared accounts. Any domain you host or subdomain you create will be listed there and you'll see an On/Off option next to each and every one of them, so you can easily activate or deactivate the generation of access logs individually for every single site that you have. You'll be able to save a log to your computer by clicking on the Download link that you shall see in the same exact section of the Control Panel. The link will be available even after you deactivate the log generation, so you'll still have access to the data gathered by our system.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you have a semi-dedicated server account with our company, it won't take more than a few clicks to enable the generation of access logs by our system if you need them. The function could be permitted through the Hepsia hosting Control Panel and this may be done separately for each and every domain or subdomain which you have in your account. When you log in and navigate to the Access/Error Logs section of the CP, you'll find a list of all the hostnames with an On/Off button next to each of them. A single click shall activate the log generation and a second one will deactivate it, so you can control this function with great comfort. A Download link within the same section will permit you to save the gathered content as a text file, which you can then use on your notebook or computer. Whether or not the logs are deactivated, you shall still be able to download the data that's been previously generated.
