FTP is short for File Transfer Protocol – a very popular way to exchange files between a home computer and a server. Using an FTP program such as FileZilla or CuteFTP, you can make a connection to the server and view its content in one pane, while the files on your PC will be shown in another pane within the main program window. All you will have to do to send files or entire directories in either direction is to mark them and then to drag them from one pane to the other. FTP is preferred by a lot of users because you can set up different FTP accounts and each of them can be limited to access just one single folder on the server, so a designer, for instance, can fulfill their job without accessing any other directory in your website hosting account. Also, the availability of different FTP accounts will also allow you to build multiple sites with web design tools like FrontPage or Dreamweaver and to upload them to their corresponding folders on the server.

FTP Accounts in Hosting

You’ll be able to create as many FTP accounts as you want with each of the hosting that we offer, because we have chosen not to limit this functionality. In this way, you can have multiple websites simultaneously or provide other individuals with access to different directories. Once a certain task has been fulfilled and you would not like that person to be able to access your files anymore, you can change the password for the FTP account or you can just remove that account with several mouse clicks and stop worrying about anyone connecting to it once again. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is included with all shared plans, will permit you to check the full list of the active FTP accounts listed in alphabetical order. It takes only one click to manage various options for any of them – to modify the access path or the password, to download an auto-configuration file, etc.

FTP Accounts in Semi-dedicated Servers

When you host your Internet sites in a semi-dedicated server account, you will be able to create a separate FTP account for each one of them, since we have not put a restriction on this feature with any of our plans. You can accomplish this via the FTP section of our easy-to-use Hepsia Control Panel where you can also view the full list of all the accounts that you’ve created, along with the folder that each one can access. If necessary, you’ll be able to modify the password for a certain account or to change its access path with a few clicks of the mouse. You can also delete an account without efforts in case you no longer need it – for instance, if you’ve hired a designer who’s finished with the Internet site and you do not want them to be able to access your website files anymore. For the sake of convenience, we have prepared a number of how-to video clips, that will help you manage your FTP accounts with ease in case you’ve never used a hosting service previously.

FTP Accounts in VPS Servers

If you open a VPS servers with our company and select any of the three hosting Control Panels that we’re offering – cPanel, Hepsia or DirectAdmin, an FTP server will be installed on your VPS, since it is part of the basic software pack that comes with all VPS servers ordered with a hosting Control Panel. This will allow you to create as many FTP accounts as you need and to specify which folder each of them will access. If you want, you can even create several accounts for the very same domain name and give different people their own sign-in details to connect to the web content. Any of the 3 Control Panels will offer you the ability to create, to edit or to delete an FTP account in a few simple steps and with no more than a couple of clicks of the mouse, so even if you don’t have any past experience, you will be able to manage an account without any hassle.
